Beginning primary school can be a challenging time for both children and their parents. Aware of these challenges, the families of all children starting primary school in Finglas in September 2016 were given a ‘Steps to School’ transition pack. The ‘Steps to School’ packs are the result of the work of Early Years Settings, Primary Schools and Better Finglas and it is hoped the packs will form part of a structured transition pathway for young children starting primary school.
The ‘Steps to School’ pack included:
- Reading Book
- Guide on Young Children’s Behaviour
- Information on Triple P Parenting Courses
- A tip-sheet on helping parent to prepare their young children for school
