In September 2016, the Barnardos Wizards of Words Reading Programme will be offered in two more schools; Mother of Divine Grace Primary School and Gaelscoil Uí Earcáin. Wizards of Words is a school-based reading programme where each child is matched with a mature adult volunteer tutor, aged 55 or over. This programme is available to children in 1st and 2nd class and helps to develop their reading skills and confidence.
This expansion brings the number of schools offering the Wizards of Words programme to eleven in the Better Finglas area. This also adds to the continual need for more volunteers to be willing to offer their time and passion for reading to make a difference in the lives of children.
